| large clear glass or plastic container water vinegar baking soda dry spaghetti |

| 1. Place enough baking soda in the container so that the bottom is covered. 2. Pour in water until about 2/3 of the container is full. 3. SLOWLY and carefully pour in about one cup of vinegar. 4. Add several pieces of dry spaghetti that has been broken into one inch pieces. |

| What makes the spaghetti dance? The baking soda and vinegar produce bubbles of carbon dioxide gas in a chemical reaction. The bubbles adhere to the pieces of spaghetti, forcing it to rise to the top. Once at the top, the bubbles burst, and the spaghetti falls back to the bottom of the container. This will happen over and over again until the chemical reaction stops producing carbon dioxide. |
